{"id":68,"date":"2025-02-06T09:48:01","date_gmt":"2025-02-06T09:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digital-humanities.open.ac.uk\/text-affects\/?page_id=68"},"modified":"2025-04-25T10:29:04","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T09:29:04","slug":"author-instructions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/digital-humanities.open.ac.uk\/text-affects\/publishing\/author-instructions\/","title":{"rendered":"Author Instructions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proposals submission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proposals must be submitted through the OpenReview portal (<a href=\"https:\/\/openreview.net\/group?id=AFFECTS\/2025\">Text Affects 2025 Venue<\/a>), open from the 31st of March 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for different stages of maturity, we accept contributions in the following formats:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Extended abstracts<\/strong> <strong>up to 600 words<\/strong>, references excluded, equivalent to 1-2 pages + references. This format is specific for research ideas, tutorials, or provocations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Short paper<\/strong> <strong>up to 1800 words<\/strong>, references excluded, equivalent to 4-6 pages. This format is specific for early results, position papers, resources, tools or creative works.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Full papers<\/strong> <strong>up to 3600 words<\/strong>, references excluded, equivalent to 7-12 pages + references. This format is specific for mature or complete research works.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Research panels<\/strong> <strong>between 2 and 5 of linked contributions<\/strong>. Panel proposals should include up to 800 words of introduction to the linking topic and up to 500 words for each contribution, references excluded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Submissions in a specific format will not provide a specific form of presentation. Presentation modalities will be decided based on the type of contribution and synergies with other works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Templates<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following are templates for each type of submission. Templates include suggested structures and arguments to be addressed to be considered as a reference<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Extended abstract formats (up to 600 words or 1-2 pages excluding references)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1-y-XVRRUDgFXJM2u8Ksw9HcOxfmQ3UzTWbLwb4nMlNU\/edit?usp=sharing\">Research Idea<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1j-GAsrAkimvhkJQ6xD_O7YdvexxwWAEJZWdBCjB97wQ\/edit?usp=sharing\">Tutorial<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Short paper formats (up to 1800 words or 4-6 pages excluding references)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1xyfbsfiZBCDozp9C8uasZ9S0sHxtpFwhEzWhbpPT0E8\/edit?usp=sharing\">Creative work<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1iBtP8hqs32QIUrTdXRrnvQkV1QcrfkGtuGBrXNimrP8\/edit?usp=sharing\">Position<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/130xZKNzVg7alAr4_37U2GV2jSjBIISFr8oikNSG0-q8\/edit?usp=sharing\">Early results<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1lbjxk3jqx-x2E52MmUamGsB4pEXryJsDQvH3cycX8w8\/edit?usp=sharing\">Tool<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1zEpmHlFqYgyMCDLFqA_2RWh0DS80BL7ZmbcaiJ_HObI\/edit?usp=sharing\">Resource<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Long paper formats (up to 3600 words or 7-12 pages excluding references)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1QCDNof_cqvcO-rDipB6bShKZWJrvIqsYo6DXUv3lDls\/edit?usp=sharing\">Research study<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1b1yhY60PX3QvmayK2-Wg4ejHEWEfmPATjenyQsJNsqw\/edit?usp=sharing\">Panel<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">References can follow any of the main stream style (APA, Chicago, ACM, etc) as long as their use is consistent across the contribution. Of importance, is to include DOIs, OAIs or any other type of URI that uniquely identifies the cited work. In line citation can be done naming the author-year or using a numeric reference to bibliography as long the style is consistent. In case of doubts, please get in touch <a href=\"mailto:text-affects@open.ac.uk\">text-affects@open.ac.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proceedings submission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The corresponding author of the presented papers will be provided with an Author account for the conference website. The editing will be done directly on the conference website using WordPress web editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guidelines and support will be provided by the proceedings chair in due course.
